Description
The Log Barn 1912 is a unique Agricultural farm based business that started in 1994 along highway 97A, in the small farming community of Armstrong, BC. The original barn dates back to 1912, thus the name of the business. The Mennonite family business started by selling fruits and vegetables from the small corn shack (pictured above). The family soon realized that customers would come from far and wide just to buy their fresh produce and most would stay a while to enjoy the animals and the farm setting. Word of mouth spread, and soon after the business began to grow rapidly.
In 2006 the business started selling baked goods, meat and cheese products and much more. Many of these recipes were created from the original Mennonite cookbooks. Some of their favorite creations include old-fashioned sausages, cheese, pies, assorted pastries, jams and jellies. The owners believe that food is a cultural experience that transcends all kinds of differences and distances. It is more than just sustenance – good food brings people together. This is the bases that the Log Barn 1912 was built upon and stays true even to this day. The Log Barn 1912 brings families together through the food they prepare and sell. Soon after the business the family decided to build a wooden goat walk attraction on the Armstrong farm. This iconic goat walk can be seen today for miles (it stands 30 feet high and 60 feet wide) along highway 97A. People come from all over to see the wooden goat walk! Today, the Log Barn has seventeen goats and four horses that are part of the Log Barn family.
