Digitally hand-painting based on my original photograph
In 1393 the monastery was destroyed during the Ottoman invasion. Then in 1450 it was restored and then repeatedly fall victim to the burning and rebuilding. Today the monastery complex includes houses, barns and church. There are suggestions that the monastery church was built by Kolyo Ficheto in 1845 and the famous painter Zahari Zograf is the master of the only fresco St. Elias in a chariot.

What a beautiful image, Eva! Love those warm, Tuscany type colors, with that magical sky! Voted
